LS, 1782 May 20, Fishkill, N.Y., to George Clinton.

Informs Clinton, governor of New York, that a New York judge had subpoenaed Helena Scott, wife of General John Morin Scott, to appear in a common tavern to give evidence concerning a minor court case. Stirling complains that other, less severe, methods of obtaining her testimony could have been employed, and asks Clinton to speak to the judge concerning his conduct.
